The weekend arrives. Both husband and wife are spent and wiped out as a result of the week's Mount-Everest-like activities and stressors. They drop off their children, eyes all beaming to see their grandparents. They bid them farewell.
Originally with big plans for the weekend, the couple arrives home.
The pillow calleth. Sleep whispereth. The morning awaiteth. The sun cometh. His friend calleth.
The wife knew, the time has come for her husband to spend the day with his good old friend who's visiting from out of town.
The wife had waited all week to spend some quality time with her husband, but she knew that her husband's visiting friend did just the same. With only one day left to see his friend, the wife urged her husband to go and spend time with him. It was the right thing to do.
She spends the day at home, alone, reading and writing to her heart's content.
The chores can wait.
Soon, she will need to prepare to reunite with the children.
The phone rings. Her husband checks in. She learns that they decided to go to Kaena Point. That's where he first proposed to her, asking for her hand in marriage.
Should she burn with envy?
A part of her wishes that she could be there with him. Just him. No interruptions, just like when they were starting out.
That day could've been it.

The sun sets, the day ends. The children arrive home.
Date night never came that weekend.
The wife takes a deep breath. She smiles.
She doesn't wait on her husband, but on God. In doing so, she has learned that when Date Night finally does come, it will be worth the wait.
